The Press Institute
of Bangladesh
was founded
in August 1976 keeping the following objectives
in view:
-
To provide in-service training to working
journalists and media personnel working under
the Government or any local authority to help
raise the country’s standard of journalism.

To undertake research on mass communication and
publish collected data.
-
To provide advisory and consultancy services to
any newspaper or news agency
-
To establish contact with other organizations,
both national and international, having
functions similar to those mentioned in the
above paragraphs.
-
To set up a well-equipped reference center for
the benefit of the profession.
-
To set up to morgue with a microfilm unit and a
newspaper reference center.
-
To advise the Government on any matter relating
to press that may be referred to it by the
Government.
-
To do such other acts and things as may be
necessary to be done for the uplift of the
standard of journalism in Bangladesh.
